Abstract

Air returning (5) from the space being heated passes over a thermal store (4) which is heated by circulation (2,50) from a solar radiation collector (1). The air then passes over a supplementary heater (7) in which heat is added if necessary from a boiler (12). The boiler and its associated pump (9) are turned on only if the temp. reached in the solar heater (4) is not sufficient. The air is then discharged (21) to the space being heated. The heated air is mixed with an additional stream (21) after the supplementary heater. The additional stream is drawn from atmosphere (19) and heated by exchange with the flue gases (14) of the boiler (12).
