Abstract

The jaws attach to traditional hand-operated pincers (2, 3) provide active faces (12) which remain parallel at all times, and may be used to fix identity tags on livestock. The jaws (10, 10') are identical and are pinned in an inverse relationship to the respective pincer arms (7, 8). Rectangular plates with perpendicular edges form the active faces (12), with a rectangular section leg (13) built onto a rear corner and, fitting together to form a slideway for the pincer arms (7). A bored hole (15) is provided in the angle, with a slot hole (16) extending over the major proportion of the leg outstand. Each arm is bored (9) to be secured by a bolt (11), through a bore (15) and the slot hole (16) in the counter leg. The bolts provide for the relative articulation of the arm (7, 8) and the jaw (10). The jaws slide towards one another as the arms (7, 8) pivot together, guided by the bolts (11) in the slot holes (16).
