Abstract

The adjustable mechanism enables the horizontal curvature of the seat back to be varied to suit the user. Several such mechanisms may be provided at definite vertical intervals, thus, permitting the optimising of lumbar support. Each mechanism may comprise a round section steel bar (3) which undulates uniformly in a vertical plane, and may span between edge framing members (2). One end (4) may be fixed with the other attached (5) to the movable component (6) of a screw jack (6, 7, 8), a knurled hand wheel (7) may allow the jack to be operated from the exterior, the effective bar (3) span being reduced to increase the transverse arching effect or vice versa.
