Abstract

The direct solar radiation and the position of the sun are measured automatically for solar tracking purposes and for solar meteology. Such an instrument can be used to control several concentrator equipments in the same location. A tripod (10) supports a platform (7) which articulates around a horizontal axis to enable it to be adjusted for the lattitude position. This platform supports a vertical plate (6) on which a convex polyhedral support (1) is mounted with identical photosensitive detectors (2i, 3i) mounted on each face. These provide an electrical signal proportional to total direct energy received. The shadow (5) from an opaque screen (4) is projected onto one detector on each face and the detectors on each face are connected to differential input amplifiers to determine the direct energy received.
