Abstract
The stereoscopic viewing spectacles, to give a two- dimensional image the appearance of a three-dimensional object, has each lens (11) formed by a cell with a crystal positioned between two transparent electrodes. The cell responds to a control voltage applied between the electrodes to vary the light transmission characteristic. The frames of the spectacles have elements(16) for providing periodic alternating voltages for the control electrodes of the respective cells, such that the light transmission through the lenses (11) is varied differentially at 25 cycles per second. Pref. each crystal is a spiral nematic crystal, each cell positioned between two optical polarisers.
