Abstract

The device provides a servo-stabilised platform for optical appts. On an aircraft. It comprises an arrangement in which the stabilising of the platform is connected with the internal stabilising of the optical appts. It is possible to derive the instructions for stabilising the platform and steering the optical system, from the same gyroscope. For minimum inertia the optical stabiliser brings into play a crossed coupling between the optical deflectors crossed by the beam received at the appts. It may use a pair of rotating achromatic prisms for the wavelengths of the light received controlled by servo motors to regulate the angles between elements of the gyroscopic system. In this system a quick and economical approach is made to the stable position.
