Abstract

An axial-flow pump for two-phase fluids, e.g. a mixt. of mineral oil and gas in a well, has a number of impeller stages, separated from each other by guide vanes. The spiral blades on the impellers are arranged on hubs and have a curvature along the blade profile as a function of the curvilinear abscissa along the profile which increases progressively from the flow incidence edge to the exit edge. This combines an anticavitation feature with a good efficiency. The fluid discharged at the exit has a volumetric ratio of zero, i.e. all gas is dissolved in the fluid.
