Abstract

The overload protection device is for lifting gear, with a block (1) mounted on the lifting hook and housing a set of automatically clamping jaws for an auxiliary cable passing through it. The jaws (8, 9) are mounted on two swinging arms (10, 11) suspended from supports (2) designed to tilt, on breakage of the cable, about a pivot point (01) on the block, and to operate a switch (15) to shut off the motor. A slot in the casing and a resilient buffer associated with the leverage system enables the safety device to operate in accordance with loads above and below a predetermined level and bring about a slower braking action.
