Abstract

Preserving and packing process is intended for fragile growth prods. such as mushrooms. The packing consists of a base with raised sides. Spikes are suitably distributed over the surface to receive the stalks of the individual mushrooms which are impaled on these spikes. The surface of the base is covered with a layer of natural foam forming a bed for the mushrooms; the foam bed protects the mushrooms and holds a reserve of water to keep them fresh. The base is itself associated with a box made from wood panels with a peripheral reinforcement. The packed assembly is finally covered with a sealed sheet of a transparent vegetable nature. The process allows mushrooms to be kept in the fresh state for a limited time by the partic. reliable packing method. They may also be preserved in the frozen state for several months in the same packing.
