Abstract
Device is for heat treating metal workpieces partly immersed to a specified depth in at least one bath. A sealed bell is partly immersed in the bath, and contains a device for suspension of the workpieces and air at constant pressure. The novelty is that the bell has two side envelopes between which air is trapped. The air gap is rpef. 20-30 mm wide. Used e.g. for partial heating of workpieces provided with zones which are not hardened so they remain tough. The air gap provides thermal insulation, preventing heat passing through the bell onto the zones which should not be hardened.
