Abstract

A machine to produce perforated flexible steel programming tapes (5) for circular weaving looms, has a pre-perforated paper tape (14) fed in and reproduced. The two tapes are moved in increments along parallel lines by an arrangement of power driven winding spools. Each increment of the paper tape is scanned. The resultant data is used to activate punches which perforate the steel tape. A sawtoothed wheel (24) engaged by an oscillating lever ratchet (39) may advance the tape incrementally. Pneumatic mechanisms may operate the punch. Both tapes are sub-divided into longitudinal zones. Tape progress is monitored. Logic modules register paper tape data. Logic signals are transmitted, amplified and assigned to the steel band (5) punch (8) control. Individual punch elements are provided for each longitudinal zone of the steel tape.
