Abstract

Single glazed windows are converted to double glazing without altering the original frame, by placing an intermediate frame between the original pane of glass and the additional one and injecting an air/water-tight jointing material between the main frame and the respective faces of the intermediate frame. A section forming the intermediate frame (1a) and containing a dessicative material is fastened around the outside (1f) of the additional pane of glass (1b) and this enables it to be fixed against the inside face of the original window with adhesive strips (1i). One strip is placed between the intermediate frame (1a) and the additional pane of glass (1b) and the other between the intermediate frame and the original frame.
