Abstract
A capacitive gauge to measure an internal transverse dimension of a tube (1) has two capacitance plates (23, 24) on either side of a dielectric material (25) in contact with the dimension to be measured. A mutual capacitance measurement bridge is used. A U-shaped leaf spring (2) forms an internal gauge. The two arms of the spring have an insulating layer (21, 22) on their opposing faces, this layer being coated with a metalic film forming the compacitance plates. Two coaxial cables (32, 33) connect the leaf spring to a common earth point in the bridge circuit and also connect the capacitance plates to the bridge circuit.
