Abstract

A refrigerated chamber is claimed which is cooled by low temp. air circulated via the evaporator of refrigeration plant, part of the chamber space being subjected to a much more intense circulation of air than the rest of the space in order to provide the quick-freezing facilities of a blast freeze tunnel, the rest of the space serving for cold storage. The cold storage space is furnished with open shelf racks extending in series, communicating nose-to-tail, and with a number of the racks being sleeved longitudinally, i.e. effectively walled, to enclose a tunnel space for blast freezing air circulation.
