Abstract
Container vessel for a nuclear reactor with molten salt nuclear fuel e.g. a mixt. of fissile and fertile salts in a molten inert salt, comprises (i) an inner vessel of carbon-based material, (fine pore graphite) (ii) an outer metal shell (iii) an intermediate liner intended to provide thermal insulation and composed of layers of composite carbon-based products. Eliminates the need for very costly corrosion-resistant alloys e.g. 'Hastelloy' (RTM) for the reactor vessel.
