Abstract

The panel is made of readily deformable material, e.g. expanded polystyrene, bearing on >=1 of its surfaces (non-uniformly distributed (frusto)conical protuberances with rounded tips. The panel is deformed elastically under slight compression, with a decrease in elasticity proportional to the increase in crushing, and can thus be used for batches of articles of varying thickness. The protuberances extend between the articles and retain them in posn. without damaging them due to their rounded shape. The protuberances provide the panel with increases strength, allowing it to be mfd. with reduced thickness to save material.
