Abstract

The collapsible frame for mounting pictures comprises demountable edge beadings and a backing board. The backing board has high transverse flexural rigidity, but little or no longitudinal flexural rigidity and may thus be rolled up longitudinally. The board stiffens when mounted in the frame. The backing board is fabricated from sheet material with parallel corrugations, or of slab material with parallel grooves on one major face. Board rigidity may be obtained by superimposing two boards with the resp weak axes perpendicular to one another. Corrugated sheet (12) when utilised, may be bonded between two plane sheets (13, 14).
