Abstract

A plunger (32) connected to a piston (33) of the valve is screwed into a closing head (26) composed of plastic. The closing head (26) is connected integrally, via a bellows (28), to a ring (15) clamped between housing parts (14, 16). Compressed air fed to a first space (37) via a first connection (38) displaces the piston (33) through a distance (h) counter to the pressure of a spring (45) and thus lifts the closing head (26) off from a wall (23), allowing an adhesive introduced into a second space (21) via a second connection (25) to flow out of a nozzle (18). The release of the compressed air from the second space (21) has the effect that the spring (45) presses the closing head with its annular bead (27) against the wall (23), thereby blocking the flow of adhesive to the nozzle (18). The risk that the closing head will be glued fast to the wall (23) is reduced and readiness for operation even after prolonged intervals between operations is guaranteed.
