Abstract

In a heat exchanger, partic. for high power installations e.g. nuclear power plants, with elements placed side by side, each element comprises (a) tubular elements of serpentine or similar form traversed by one of the heat exchanging fluids, partic. a liq. to be cooled and (b) corrugated plates partic. thin metal plates of thickness 0.2-0.5 mm, fixed on both sides of the serpentine, esp. by welding brazing or adhesion with their corrugations arranged transversely w.r.t. those of the serpentine, the resultant assembly being traversed by the other fluid, partic. cooling air, circulating along the plates.
