Abstract

Dustless granules of lead oxide particles agglomerated with potassium to a granule size of 0.5-5(0.5-1) mm. contg. 2.5.(3-4.5) wt % potassium silicate with SiO2:K2O ratio of 1.2-2.5(1.8-2.4):1, the preferred lead oxide being minimum are obtd. by introducing minium powder into a cylindrical tank open at the top and agitated with a movement angled with respect to the vertical and spraying into the vessel an aq. soln. of the potassium silicate. The granules are used in the mfr. of lead crystal glass. Health risk conditions in the glass mfr. are reduced by using the dustless granules rather than powder of prior art. Silica and potassium oxide being required in the compsn. no restriction on compsn. is applied by the addition.
