Abstract
Presensitized lithographic printing plates contain a layer of a photosensitive p-amino-benzene diazonium salt (I) substd. on the N atom of the amigo gp. by a 7-22 C alkyl or alkylcarbonyl gp. Plates have good sensitivity and after exposure the unexposed portions are easily washed off to leave a ready to use printing plate with hydrophilic areas and lipophilic ink receptive areas. Pref. (I) has the formula:- where R1 = H or 1-4C alkyl R2 and R3 = H, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4c alkoxy, halogen, -N3 -COOH, -SO3H -NO2, or -N+ = N X-, or R2 and R3 together form a condensed ring which is opt. substd. by one or two of the above gps., Y = -CH2- or -CO-, n = 5-20 and X- = an anion.
