Abstract

The collector has a casing with a transparent cover (1). A coil of tubes (2) is supported on a plate (5) which separates the space between the cover and the tubes from an air space (4) below the tubes. A fan (10) can draw in atmospheric air and circulates it through the space (') below the coil. The close contact between the plate (5) and the tubes enables the liquid in the tubes to extract heat from the air. In fine weather the liquid is heated by solar radiation and is used directly for heating. At other times it draws heat from the air and is circulated to the evaporator of a heat pump.
