Abstract

The protective window (1), for use in a bank etc., has a protective plate (6, 8) positioned vertically at the back of the window (1) and motorised means (3) for lifting the plate (6, 8) to allow access through the slot at the bottom of the window (1). The plate is formed as two panels (6, 8) spaced one behind the other, with one panel (6) driven directly via the motorised means (3) and the other panel (8) driven at a higher speed via a chain drive (4). Pref. both panels (6, 8) have the same height as that of the access slot and the latter panel (8) is lifted at twice the speed of the former panel (6), with the one positioned above the other in the retracted position.
