Abstract

Phenoxybenzyl esters of formula (I) (where R1 is ethyl, n-propyl or isopropyl and R2 is H or CN), are new: Also new are intermediates of formula (II) (where Y is OH or halo and R1' is lower alkyl), and their optical isomers. (I) are insecticides and acaricides having contact, and systemic activities. They can be used to protect agricultural prods. during growth and after harvesting, and for systemic protection (by oral or parenteral administration of animals. They are esp. active against mosquitoes and tobacco caterpillars.
