Abstract

A hollow perforated cylinder is rotatably supported in bearings. It is divided into suction and pressure sources, one of which may be atmospheric pressure. The partition is provided with flexible sealing lips. A flexible sheet passing between two superposed cylinders, one of which is driven, is caused initially to adhere to one roller by suction in the suction chamber. Subsequently it contacts the pressure chamber causing it to be freed from the cylinder.
