Abstract

The installation gives a three dimensional tomographic image of an internal organ (2). The patient is placed in front of a radioactive source (6), the organ being dosed with a tracer. The source has a lead tube (9, 10) fitted with a lead disc (3) pierced with holes (4) in a circle (8). In front of this a rotary lead disc (5), pierced with one hole to form a collimator. The patient is moved in fron of the collimator to synchronise with disc rotation and exposure of each hole. Exposures are stored in a memory bank.
