Abstract
An aq. soln. of zinc sulphate is made for feeding into a process for the electrolytic mfr. of zinc, where a roasted raw material is treated with a neutral leach (a), a hot acid leach (b) and the pptn. of jarosite (c), each step is followed by solid/liq. sepn. and the residue from step (c) is recycled to step (b). The residue from the neutral leach (a) is pref. fed to step (c). A simpler method of treating zinc ores etc. than conventional processes is provided.
