Abstract

The support enables paralysed persons to stand upright and has inflatable tubes in outer coverings. Several sets of these are joined together by plastic hook type tape and suspended from a waist belt. They enclose the lower limbs down to ankle level. The inflatable tubes (42) in each set vary from square to rectangular in cross section and are made from plastic. The outer covering (49) is made from fabric, the external face (40) being provided with stiffeners extending inwards (46) between the tubes. Padding (44) is provided in the interspaces and a suitable clip (51) is used to fix and hold the unit in place.
