Abstract

A series of automatic operations are performed which include controlled mechanical tensioning of the wire. The tension applied being a function of the wire section so as to submit it to a predetermined constraint. The sample is connected to a bridge measuring circuit. The results are processed and printed. The diameter of the wire (1) is measured mechanically, the result is used as a reference magnitude for the electrical measurments. Data on the diameter measured is interpreted as referring to one or other preestablished normals values of diameter and or section. The tension exerted on the wire is a preestablished function of the diameter or of the normal section of the wire. The measured value of the resistance is automatically compensated as a function of temperature imposed on the wire by the surface on which it is applied. The results of the measurements are automatically transcribed in full or in part onto a printer.
