Abstract

The method of assembling furniture which has the advantage of concealing the joint uses a panel with double walls to form a U shaped cross-section. The panel has a number of transverse bridge pieces of wedge shaped cross-section. In addition one end wall has a rounded internal lip adjoining a slot. The panel is slid over a base member which has transverse ribs with tapered cross sections which engage the sloping surfaces of the bridge pieces with a wedging action. At the same time the lip engages a recess in a flexible tongue in the base member. The two parts are thus locked together without the joint being visible.
