Abstract

A piston is made to reciprocate in a double acting cylinder by a compressed gas or liquid. A piston rod projects out of the cylinder and carries a cross arm. Each end of the cross arm is attached to a chains which run over pinions and idlers. The shaft of the pinions carries clear wheels which engage a second gear wheels on a common shaft from which a rotary output is obtained. At the end of a stroke the cross arm on the piston rod passes over the chain wheels and returns in the opposite direction on the other side of the chains.
