Abstract

The blank ammunition firing device is for a firearm with breech operating on the inertial system, e.g. a machine-gun. It comprises a device inserted in the barrel near the forward end of the cartridge. This reduces the cross-section of the passage by which the explosive gases escape. The device can be a rod of smaller diameter that that of the barrel, with one end near the forward end of the cartridge, and the other detachably secured to the muzzle. The end nearest the cartridge can be pointed. Alternatively a tube can be used with a calibrated orifice.
