Abstract

alpha-Amino acid dihalophenyl derivs. of formula (I) their esters and salts in racemic or optically active forms, are new. In (I), R1-2 are F, Cl, Br or CF3; R3 is H or OH; R4 is H or 1-4C alkyl. A typical cpd. is the methyl ester of dl-3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-methyl alanine. In an example this was prepd. by treating methyl-2-isocyano propionate with NaH in THF and adding 3,4-dichlorobenzyl bromide.
