Abstract

3-o-Hydroxyphenyl-3-phenylpropionic acid of formula (I) is new. (I) is usd in the synthesis of biologically active cpds., e.g. 3-o-hydroxyphenyl-3-phenyl-N-(diphenylpropyl)-propylamine (II) and 3-o-hydroxyphenyl-3-phenyl-N- (3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)ethyl propylamine (III). The hydrochloride of (II) and (III), in concn. of 0.05 mu mole/ml, affect the sympathicolytic and adrenolytic contraction activity of the isolated spermatic duct of the rat e.g. redn. in amplitude of contraction, caused by intramural electric stimulation, after 10 minutes, as % of control: (II), 90%; (III) 72%; caused by 10-5 g/ml adrenalin, after 10 minutes, as % of control: (II), 81%; (III) 1%.
