Abstract

The brake band (2) is made of steel and is lined internally with a brake pad. The ends of the band are fixed to support shoes (13, 14) rivetted in place. The shoe is located on one side by a rod (30) which fits into a blind hole in the shoe at one end and into a fixed support (32) at the other. The opposite shoe has a similar rod fitted at its outside end into the end of a brake piston (40). the piston moves in the cylinder (42) when brake pressure is applied.
