Abstract

Simultaneous clarification and defluorination of phosphoric acid comprises mixing the acid with >=1 powdered decolourising earths, stirring the mixt. until the fluorine has reacted with the silicate of the earth and the organic matter has adsorbed on the acid of the earth, finally sepg. the clarified phosphoric acid. Single-stage defluorination and clarification suitable for acid contg. 30% P2O5 and more conc. acid, contg. about 50% P2O5.
