Abstract

The anaesthetic mixing vessel has a hollow cylindrical head (8) at the top, with an entry tube (5, 6) extending each side for a mixture of gases, and a paddle wheel (10) connected to it by a tube (11). This wheel stirs up a liquid ingredient (2) inside the bottom of the vessel so that all the ingredients mix together. The feed at the top has teeth around it for a drive so that it rotates, rotating also the paddle wheel. The latter has a cup shaped body, with a set of radial plates connecting the rim to the hub (13), and an opening through the rim, openings (36) through the plates at alternate ends, and an opening (31) through the hub, thus forming a meander path through the cylinder, before passing up the hollow hub to the rotary head (8) above. This has a set of flanges (17, 20, 21) around it forming a sealing and distribution arrangement for the gases entering.
