Abstract

The system measures the nasal resistance of a patient, having a device generating a gas flow. To this a first circuit is connected, comprising, in series, a first tube with a resistance, the nasal passage whose resistance is to be measured, and the open mouth. A second circuit, also connected to the device comprises, in series, a second tube with a second resistance and a circuit with a variable resistance Rv, the end of which is open to atmosphere. Gas is passed simultaneously through the two circuits, and the difference is measured between pressures in the circuits at the ends of the resistance tubes furthest from the device. The variable resistacne Rv is altered until this difference is nil.
