Abstract

The socket has >=1 pocket below the wearer's knee for holding a sports shin guard, pref. on the inside of the sock. The pocket may have an opening and means for closing it, or an opening formed by an elastic upper edge of the material. The sock is pref. made of nylon, while the pocket is made from a piece of material contg. at least polyester fibres and stitched to the sock. The sock pref. includes a double-walled section contg. an inlay of impact-absorbing material, pref. foam plastics, for protecting the calf and/or ankle and/or instep region of the leg. The sock may be worn in combination with a knee guard.
