Abstract

The heating system for a building has a boiler (1) divided into an upper chamber (3) and a lower chamber (2) by a partition (5) across it. The lower chamber (2) is heated by a solar heating panel (12) mounted on the roof, or by wind power. Water leaves the bottom of the lower chamber through a line (9) to pass through a pump (10) for delivery to the heat source (12) and returns through a line (13) to the top of the lower chamber. Water flows by convection through tubes (8) projecting downwards from the partition (5) and other tubes (7) projecting upwards. In the upper chamber (3) is an auxiliary heater (18) which may have a hot water coil (17) inside. Connections (14, 16) and a pump (15) supply hot water from the upper chamber (3) to external equipment.
