Abstract

The bottle sealing cap has a thin skirt of cylindrical shape. It is of uniform thickness apart from a triangular section retaining rib (4) on the inside, engaging under the bead on the bottle neck. There can be holes (3) round the edge where the cap top (2) joins into the skirt. It can be an injection moulding of deformable plastics whose specific gravity is approximately 0.963. The inner face of the top can have means for sealing the mouth of the bottle neck, typically a tubular spigot (7) fitting inside it. A deformable material is deposited on the annular face of the top surrounding the spigot and the adjacent portion of the skirt to form an adhesive seal.
