Abstract

A rotating joint which can be controlled from a distance is used in a motor vehicle to enable a rear view mirror or lights to be adjusted. Control is effected by electric motor without a clutch. An exterior rear view mirror (5) has a foot (1) for mounting on vehicle bodywork and which supports a rigid arm (2) with casting (3) attached. The mirror is attached to a support plate (7) which is mounted on one element (21) of a rotating joint (8). The other element (9) is attached to a plate (10) within the casing. A shaft (16) extends from the mirror element of the joint to a pinion (18) driven by an endless screw (19) rotated by a reversible electric joint.
