Abstract

Sanitary towels are produced by re-shaping individually delivered absorbent bodies (1) with a hose-like enveloping band (4). In order to provide the absorbent bodies, which taper prismatically at their ends, with an exactly fitting sheath, the tubular sheath is incised laterally in the region between the absorbent bodies in the direction of the absorbent body thickness. After the incision the sheath is folded inwards like a Z above and below the absorbent bodies, while maintaining the tensile force, and it is then stamped and cut off.
