Abstract

Dewar flask comprises a glass insulating receptacle with inner and outer walls between which is an enclosure in which a vacuum is created. The outer surface is coated with a layer of injection moulded polyurethane adhering to the receptacle, pref. covering the whole outer surface, including the tip. A collar of non-toxic material pref. surrounds the outer wall of the neck of the flask. The polyurethane layer is pref. in direct contact with the outer wall of the flask and has any shape and/or thickness. The flask itself may have any shape and/or colour. An impact or fall is damped, preventing damage due to breakage of the flask walls.
