Abstract

In the prodn. of laminates with a plane surface, synthetic resin plate(s) (A) with a flow rate not over 1.0, which form the surface of the laminate, are placed in a mould cavity and a resin (B), with a flow rate of at least 0.5 and 2 or more times that of (A), is introduced into the cavity. Used for the prodn. of mirrors with little image distortion. The mirrors can be of wedge-shaped or triangular section or even have many surfaces, e.g. polyhedra and polygonal prisms. Curved surfaces are also possible. The surface planeness and chemical stability are excellent. Suitable resins are (A) polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) polycarbonate, acrylonitrile/styrene copolymer, methyl methacrylate/butadiene/styrene terpolymer, polystyrene, polyester, epoxide, melamine resins; (B) PMMA, polycarbonate, acrylonitrile/styrene copolymer, methyl methacrylate/butadiene/styrene terpolymer, polystyrene, cellulose, acetate, methyl methacrylate/styrene copolymer.
