Abstract

The multi-position footstep is intended particularly for railway vehicles. Below the floor of the vehicle is mounted a linkage system which carries two footsteps. These can be fixed in several vertical positions and they can also be adjusted transversely to the length of the vehicle. At rest, the top step can be locked flush with the vehicle floor. The assembly is actuated by a cylinder which is controlled by the driver and several may be operated in this way simultaneously. Safety devices can be incorporated to prevent train movement until the steps are in their rest position.
