Abstract

The attachment clamp for espalier plants, such as vines, consists of a piece of wire with a double loop (1, 2) and straight extension pieces (3, 4). The sides of the loops (1, 2) and the curved piece (9) between them grip round the trunk of the plant and clamp it against the tension wire. In order for the extension pieces (3, 4) to wind round the wire, the ends are pref. bent (3', 4'). The wire may be plastic coated. As the stem or trunk grows, the clamp can be widened by uncoiling one of the loops. This can be done by hand or with the aid of a rod acting as a lever.
