Abstract

The head is fitted to a machine tool spindle and permits recessing of one of several annular grooves in the walls of machined bore. The body has the drive spindle passing through it and positioned for depth in the bore by means of a ring stop, locked after setting. This drive spindle operates the cutting tool through an end gear meshing with a rack on the cutter slide. The ring stop is in two parts, and when the lower part contacts the job surface and stops, the upper part winds out the slide to a depth present by a micrometer.
