Abstract
A high efficiency silicon photovoltaic element or transducer is used in a matrix. It produces a power supply from incident sunlight. EAch element has a central plane rectangular substrate (1) of P type silicon whose two main surface areas carry a thin layer of N type semiconductor (2, 3). The surface areas are dissected to provide the electrical characteristics required and to allow the inclusion of power take - off strips (15) at the substrate surface. Further take-off strips (7, 8) are provided on the surface of the deposited surface layers. Each such element is placed in the focal plane of a reflecting half cylinder.
