Abstract
A room or other enclosed space has opaque walls (2) and a window (1). A solar energy collector is placed just inside the window. The collector has a transparent upper cover (3) and a transparent base (5). A coloured fluid (4) is circulated between them and absorbs the radiation falling on the collector. The base (5) of the collector can also be slightly tinted. The fluid is circulated through a reservoir (9) which receives and stores the collected energy. When the room does not need heating, the fluid can be discharged to waste (11) or recycled through a cooler (12) from which it passes to a cold reservoir (14).
